Frequently Asked Questions

  • All double-coated breeds are suitable. This includes, but is not limited to, Huskies, Shepherds, Retrievers, Samoyeds and similar coat types that naturally shed a soft undercoat.

  • You’ll find full instructions on our Collecting Undercoat page, where we guide you through the process step by step.

  • When this happens, it is usually due to insufficient washing or improper processing. We work exclusively with British mills equipped with professional machinery and decades of experience in fibre processing, ensuring the undercoat is thoroughly cleaned and prepared before spinning.

  • Not at all. All undercoat is rigorously washed and processed at the mill using industry-standard procedures. Sheep’s wool and cashmere are treated in very similar ways before processing.

  • Unfortunately not. Clippings and shavings — including those from Poodles and Doodles — are not suitable for yarn. Only brushed-out undercoat from double-coated breeds has the fibre structure required for spinning.

  • Not just yet. We’re currently focused on collecting fibre and developing a high-quality yarn we’re truly satisfied with. Once that foundation is in place, we’ll begin exploring products. When we do, you’ll be the first to know.
